An operator who understands the systems and the people
Most CFOs who turn advisor sell financial rigor. Most coaches who sell culture sell soft skills. I spent fifteen years deliberately building the second pillar on top of the first: NLP, coaching and mentoring training, Radical Collaboration. All of it layered onto a CFO's analytical brain.
That combination is the whole point. It is why I treat confidence as a measurable outcome, not an engagement score. Confidence is what you get when mastery meets clarity: when roles are clear, the tools work, feedback flows, and people have room to act. Get the system right and the confidence follows.
It is also why my 45-part culture framework holds up. It is not a feel-good model from a psychologist, and it is not a spreadsheet from an accountant. It is a structured system built by someone who understands both the mechanics and the humans inside them.
100+ companies, seen from six seats
Breadth matters because real situations are rarely textbook. The value is in having seen enough versions of a problem to recognize it when it shows up in a new shape. Someone who ran one company for twenty years has depth on one pattern. I've worked across more than a hundred companies, in six different roles:
- Employee. Sixteen years scaling Ragn-Sells.
- Management Board member. Around fifteen companies, including Ragn-Sells AS, Ekspress Grupp, and Enefit Green.
- Supervisory Board member. Around twenty companies, including subsidiaries of Ekspress Grupp, Enefit Green, and Ragn-Sells, companies in the utilities sector, and others.
- Consultant. Sixty to seventy customers across several countries in controlling, management accounting, business intelligence, and financial management.
- Coach and mentor. 70+ leaders coached one to one over fifteen years, including Fontes' top tier.
- Advisor. More than forty programs installed through Magere OÜ, my current practice.
Eight countries in all: Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Finland, Poland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark. Norway and Denmark are in that count through Ragn-Sells Group leadership and the years I led the Ragn-Sells Group quality function.
The decisions, not just the advice
CFO of three Baltic listed companies. Enefit Green, Ekspress Grupp, and Saku Õlletehas, with a Management Board seat at the first two. At Enefit Green I carried a €1B loan portfolio, one of the largest in the Baltics. At Ekspress Grupp I ran one accelerator across ten of its subsidiaries at the same time.
I lead with evidence, not instinct. The seat matters less than what you do in it. I once analyzed 132 management board decisions over six months and proved that 90% had only been consulted, never actually decided. Most leaders accept the structure they inherit. I test it.
I've taken the founder's risk myself. I co-founded KWOTA, a climate tech startup that built the first KPMG-audited global standard for verifying carbon savings from recycled material. It didn't survive, but I'd do it again if the conditions were as promising as they were then.
TalTech had me teach the roadmap I already use. I taught strategic management at its eMBA, built around the six-stage roadmap I run in practice today.
